Pain all over the body, fatigue and cognitive issues are all associated with fibromyalgia. In fact, according to www.fmaware.org , “10 million people in the United States” are affected with fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is chronic pain throughout the body with tender spots in some areas. Having fibromyalgia can affect your life in numerous ways as there are no given times when the symptoms can strike.
There is not an exact cause of why people get Fibromyalgia; however, there are factors that can trigger it. These factors can include central nervous issues, genetics, emotional or physical events and reoccurring injuries. There is not even an exact test to determine Fibromyalgia. However, according to www.rheumatology.org, The American College of Rheumatology has three criteria’s to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which are:
“Widespread pain index (WPI) and symptom severity (SS) scale score or WPI 3–6 and SS scale score.”
“Symptoms have been present at a similar level for at least 3 months.”
“The patient does not have a disorder that would otherwise explain the pain.”
There is no cure for Fibromyalgia. However, there are certain treatments that can alleviate some of the symptoms. Some treatments include exercise program, massage, physical therapy, and chiropractic care. For questions, comments or concerns, contact us here at Comprehensive Health Orlando to see how we can help.
